More than a year ago, the world fundamentally changed, and the future, as we knew it, went out of view. We are now in a long period of profound transformation that has only just begun to show itself in terms of impact. As our world is getting ready to emerge from a global pause, the massive cracks and chasms in our current socio-economic and political systems are being revealed.

At the same time the uncertainty and unknown are opening doors to new possibilities unimaginable before the pandemic. As the strange becomes familiar and the familiar strange, a radical reimagining of business is ready to emerge. This session allows you to safely fall down the proverbial rabbit hole to explore a new land of wonder and possibilities.

This ‘taste’ offers a series of experiences, based on Alice in Wonderland, to get a sense of the rapidly changing landscapes and where exciting new possibilities exist.

Hilary has spent over four decades leading expeditions into the future. Hilary’s specialty lies in exploring new landscapes and frontiers, uncovering uncharted territory and unleashing hidden potential. Hilary blends together eastern and western modalities to find enriching, inventive wellbeing of all through the significant challenges of our tumultuous world.

Hilary has developed long term strategic and innovation plans for governments at all levels, corporations such as Bell, American Express and Johnson and Johnson as well as a myriad of entrepreneurial enterprises. For the past 15 years, Hilary has been designing and leading a range of projects to create innovative initiatives to help Ontario towns and residential communities develop a new blueprint on how to revitalize these communities in ways that meet 21st Century realities such as economic downturns, deteriorating mental health and climate change. This involves public and private outdoor space redesign, infrastructure reframing to include both physical function and social change, policy development and entrepreneurial endeavours. In 2019, Hilary co-designed an entrepreneurial program with the women inmates of a Canadian federal penitentiary in which incarceration was the mentor and their traumas are their secret ingredients for innovative business solutions.

As a futurist, Hilary is currently designing and leading projects that reflect the ‘regenaissance’ of our times such as transitions from private to employee ownership; Call to the Mothers: radical re-imagining of mental illness and addiction, Women’s Health Summit: Girl Driven Solutions: A Makeover of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and The Future of Waste through Regenerative Design. All these are generating new forms of business and enterprise.
